A friend of mine has an RSX-S. A couple days ago, his parents had some people over, ne of which works at a car dealership. As a result, the guy could drive whatever car he wanted from the dealership. He chose a Cobalt SS.

So, after a little bit, he gave my friend the keys and let him take it for a ride. He said it was nice and pretty fast, but stiff getting into gear. Is it always like that?

Note, the car he drive is the dealers demo car and it gets beat... badly. Could that have anything to do with the hard engaging of gears?

Ok, here is my opinion :) ... I test drove a Acura RSX-S after test driving the SS/SC. The Acura was much louder(inside) and harsher riding then the Cobalt, it also didn't get any spunk until you hit 5500 RPM's.

The Cobalt seems to have a progressive rate suspension, in other words the harder you, hit(or stess it) the stiffer it becomes. The shifting on my Cobalt is short and felt just like the Mini Cooper S I test drove(very smoothe). The interior of the Cobalt is really very quite depending on the road surface. The only thing I am having a hard time with is how fast it hits the rev limiter, and the torque on the steering when excelerating in first or second gear.. If your trying to hold a cell phone and shift, drop the phone first, before letting go of the steering wheel :D, it will pull to the right..

Anyway, I love it... ;) :D

To me the SS has a very smooth ride for the type of suspension. The shifter is a little tight but nice. I'm pretty sure the SS will hand an RSX type S its lunch on a staightaway. The Acura may be a smoother shifter though. Those cars a pretty silky, I think!!

I would have it checked. I don't think it should be hard to shift. The clutch is a tad stiff though. It has to deal with quit a bit more torque then the type-S has!

That's what he said too. I drove his RSX-S. It just slides into gear.

Maybe he's just used to the RSX-S. I want to drive one now...
