If you think about it, a car that can do 0-60 in 6.1sec should be pulling in a low to mid 14 in the 1/4mile.

All that needs to happen is for someone to get one and learn how to drive it, and its over... Just like with the SRT-4 when they came out in 03. If i remeber right.. Road and Track ran like a 14.7... Stock the car was capable of low 14's even high 13's if you had good driving skills and new rubber...

When the srt4 came out the worst time was a 14.2 from sport compact, car and driver got a 14.0 and motor trend got a 13.9, this was all in 2003.

thats not bad at all, if the srt-4 can run say 14.0 with 230 hp? 240 torque.. and the SS can run a 14.1-14.2 with 205hp and 200 torque.... I might be wrong though..?

After exploring many websites I have seen high 13s in the 1/4 mile on the SS. I have also seen its top speed is around 145. 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. I am 16 and my dad owns a business and he told me if we had a good year he would buy me a Cobalt. If I get it i'll post pics and things if you would like. I am a huge chevy fan.

I dont think there is any way the car will hit 13's. It just dosnt work out.
Will it top out at 145 because of gearing, power, governer? whats causing it to "top out"? Its cool to see someone my age into cool cars

There are Redlines with just a hacked apart intake system and header back exhausts runnning REAL low 14's and someone says they just ran a 13.99x, don't have a slip for that one yet though.

Governer is what makes it top out.

I seen a article in a 1997 Motor Trend when they were testing a Z24 without a Governer and they hit 130mph with no promblem. So my guess is that the Cobalt SS can easily hit 150 but with the Governer you won't. But honeslty when are most people going to hit 145 on the track.

The top speed in the Redline (ION) is drag limited which I believe the cobalt is too, although it does have a 160 speedo....

Rev limiter at 147 mph

There are enough mods out already to hit the 13's. Kiss your warranty and resale goodbye.

I Live In Michigan And Me And My Friend Went To The Chevy Dealership, The Guy We Were Talking To Said Top Speed Is 153, But I Dont Know If Thats True But I Hope It Is...

Also I Know This Kid Who Is Gettin One, He Said That If U Cough Up About 200-300 Bucks And Do Something To The Computer U Get About 270 Horses Instead Of 205 Or 210 Whatever It Is..
