I recently went to "hot import nights" in boston last weekend. Spoke with the eco tech crew chief for the nhra/nopi cars in the 7 sec drag car they use stock block crank and bearings.they use eagle rods and "custom pistons" they do resleeve the block lower the cubes to a 1.8 liter. Now ive seen a few ecotechs apart at my work and when theres a internal issue its not pretty. I've seen 3 eco techs now like a blown number 2 piston. just demoslished the piston and take the head out when it commits sucide. Just some food for thought.

OK so what in this statement makes you a pro? I've also seen a couple of engines that have had some piston/rod issues. But when GM is pumping out over a million engines a year I'm sure one or 2 faulty parts gets by.

Oh and FYI, Stock forged cranks can take alot. I only know of Honda guys who replace them. Guess I'm a "pro" too!

In talking with the techs at Lou Fusz Saturn, they have turbocharged an Ion. At 8 lbs. of boost they got around 300hp. They stated that another 4 lbs. could be added safely at a daily driver pace. Their research from the factory techs indicated the engine could produce as much as 700hp.To what duration and resulting damage was unknown but they stated this was all done with stock internals.

cobaltseller- Do you know what they used for engine managment system? The guy at HIN said the colbalt they had with the turbonetics systemwas set up to just blow through right now because they have no managment system and nothing they can piggy back because the cobalt use high speed data links.
