At 18 for a supercharged sports coupe your're probably looking at a pretty high insurance payment. I can't remember whether or not its standard on the SS or not but if you do decide to get one, make sure to get the side curtain airbags, as the models with, are rated #1 in their class for safety, which will help with insurance.
At 20 I'm paying 120 a month for insurance on my Cobalt LS Coupe.(just $12 more than a friend of mine who is also 20 but with a 96? Cavalier Z26 not financed but payed off) One of the biggest deciding factors on settling for the LS over the SS was insurance cost, No accidents but 2 speeding tickets, no points thanks to classes I payed my sister to take online for me, a year and a half apart(which with as much time as I am in a car isn't too bad, I'm in my compact cars almost as much as a truck driver), I would have been lookin' at nearly 3 times as much for the SS.
Being a male under 25 insurance is generally pretty steep, but there are also a few things you can do lower it. I'd suggest either paying a visit to an insurance company's office or giving them a call, get a rough quote and ask them what you can do to make it lower.
