Okay, this is my first post....and may I just say this site looks awesome!

I am considering purchasing a Cobalt SS, probably late autumn-early winter of next year (thats when a settlement check comes in from a previous accidtent, hense my username "ToTaLeD") Anyway back to the point.....do you think the insurance is going to be crazy on the SS's or low because it is based off of chevys economy car?

Any 18 year olds out there care to share what they are paying on their SS?

Thanks a bunch guys!

At 18 for a supercharged sports coupe your're probably looking at a pretty high insurance payment. I can't remember whether or not its standard on the SS or not but if you do decide to get one, make sure to get the side curtain airbags, as the models with, are rated #1 in their class for safety, which will help with insurance.

At 20 I'm paying 120 a month for insurance on my Cobalt LS Coupe.(just $12 more than a friend of mine who is also 20 but with a 96? Cavalier Z26 not financed but payed off) One of the biggest deciding factors on settling for the LS over the SS was insurance cost, No accidents but 2 speeding tickets, no points thanks to classes I payed my sister to take online for me, a year and a half apart(which with as much time as I am in a car isn't too bad, I'm in my compact cars almost as much as a truck driver), I would have been lookin' at nearly 3 times as much for the SS.

Being a male under 25 insurance is generally pretty steep, but there are also a few things you can do lower it. I'd suggest either paying a visit to an insurance company's office or giving them a call, get a rough quote and ask them what you can do to make it lower.

haha i wish i could pay only 120

right now, on my 95 wrangler, I pay 200 a month, thats with no accidents (well none my fault at least) and a clean driving record...
My G/f is 20 and her insurance is 162/month thru progressive. She has one speeding ticket 70/55.
18 Male, Perfect record, $2500 a year.. ~$200 a month for the SS
Gotta love NJ!! Clean record, 21, 5200/year.......
CT is the same way 4000 a year here ... thats for my o2' cavalier... scared to death of what happens when the SS gets off the trailer....
25 years old I have USAA it is a goverment insurance i will pay 130 for full covarge for the SS
...and how exactly can you get that insurance??? Do you have to work in a government position??? If so then oh well...

Sorry to get off topic there but you could do what I did when I was 16, get your vehicle in your dad's name and list him as the primary driver and you as the secondary driver and your insurance wont be as high, but the vehicle will more than likely have to be in your dad's (or mom's) name.
check out travelers insurance... www.travelers.com
hope i can post sites like that
I'm 25 with an '05 srt-4 , with tickets before;my insurance is $104.61/month.
