I just bought a new 09 ss/tc about a month ago and took it to the local cruise night and ran it 5 times on the 1/8th and couldn't get under a 10.2. What does everyone run in an 1/8th? I used the launch control for the first 2 and then tried going lower and lower with the rpm and still felt like im spining. How does everyone launch there car?

slicks could be bad news for the axles on a 09 Cobalt, I don't know. Since you are on street tires you must learn how to feather the clutch as you are launching.. finding that sweet spot coming out of the hole where the car doesn't bog or spin. Often on a launch folks get excited and come out to strong and encounter wheel spin or axle tramp (wheel hop) which are both 60ft killers... it takes time and practice..

i dont think slicks are a good idea for stock axles. I would get street radials if anything. there going to spin alittle but they shouldnt mess up you axles, and if you do get slicks dont try to launch more then 3500 rpm's

Just remember, you want to launch where you torque and horsepower sort of meet. I'm new to FWD launches (I came from a WRX), so I would guess you want to launch somewhere in between peak torque (2000rpm?) and high rpms for horsepower. Also, did you have FFS on?
