My boyfriend has volunteered to teach me how to drive a stick but i turned it down. I am afraid I will mess somethin up. Any advice for my learning on the SS how to drive a stick? Keep in mind i am new to the Whole stick shifting.

YIKES! I offered to teach my girlfriend how to drive my S-10 (5spd) and she did so-so. But on a BRAND NEW car, that would be scary for me. All I can say is stay calm and dont get frustrated. The more you let your nerves build up the harder it will be for you to concentrate. And dervin, dont get mad at her (my dad got mad at me cause I got frustrated and pissed off, and it just made things worse- I was like 15 and didnt want this truck either so my lack of motivation didnt help either), also, dervin, BE PATIENT with her, I had to calm Carrie down a lot so she could stay focused.

Not sure, haven't got mine yet, but I have heard that the SS would probably be a hard car to learn on! Good luck with whichever he chooses! Tell him to check out RSM Racing and boost that Cavy and to let you have it! LOL That would be a pretty cool car!

Let him teach you with you sitting in his lap, taught many girls that way, they can only press against your foot so you can stop them from dropping the clutch all the time.
LOL I thought you were bein perverted at first ti l I finished readin, but that makes sense...

I've decided to let her learn on the Cavy. It's a pretty easy car to learn on I think and besides it has no performance mods so she could tune it to her liking and in the process learn some basic fundamentals of cars. In all honesty(I hope she doesn't see this...if ya do hun sorry :p) she doesn't know a whole lot about cars other than driving an automatic, turning a steering wheel, and using 2 pedals lol. She drives a 1988 Volvo 240 DL. Things fallin' apart bless her heart. So Giving the Cavy to her to play with could do her some good. Hell she might get that thing up there with my SS if some mods for it don't come out soon lol.

Wow, I was just suggestin that ya give it to her, I didnt think you'd already decided to give it to her! You are a generous guy! I cant afford to give Carrie a car so Im just fixin here 98 Neon up a lil bit for her. What motor does the Cavy have? Cant recall what year the 2.2L Ecotec was released. So does it have the 2200, the 2.4L, or the Ecotech?

It's to 2200 engine. It's a 2001 Cavy and I believe that was the last year for that engine. It's completely paid off too. Its weird how it worked out. I got it in March of '02 and paid it off January this year :D I had a 5 year loan but February of last year her mother rear ended me and totaled it. Well looking at the damage I decided to fix it up and I completely repaired it for about $2500. I had to buy it back from the insurance company and get it repaired so it was like a 4000 or so loan and I paid it off. it's in perfect condition and paid off so it's just something to toy around with to me now and I have no use in it since all my attention now go to the SS! :D

Lol calgary. No she wont be learning on my SS. She just ASSUMED she could but nope! I'm a nice guy but damn I can't let ANY learner learn on my SS. The Cavy is all hers to learn on. Our driveway is a great place to learn too...its a steep, gravel hill so she can learn to take off on a hill without stalling or throwing rocks all over the place :D

Awesome man thanks. I think I will do some modding for the Cav while waiting on parts for the Cobalt. The again I should save some so I can get parts when they are available. Hey I'm giving her a car, the least she can do it buy her own parts lol

I found out stick is very easy after only once i have the shifting part down but the start is a little bad but i have only driven once and in a 05 Tiburon GT(girlfreinds car). But it is strange because it was so very easy but just getting into 1st gear is a bitch. Maybe i will drive again this weekend. :) But if i can learn the basics in just a few minutes get you to drive stick and like everyone is saying do not be scared just relax. :) Have fun

Only thing I've done is put an aftermarket muffler on and a K&N drop in filter. I got 16s on the thing with some very grippy Falken tires and altezza tailights. Thats all I've done to it.
