My neighbor picked up his Cobalt SS on 3-12 and he brought it over to my house. Here are some pictures of it. He bought it as a commuter car to get back and forth to work and have a little fun. Basic mods will probably find their way onto the car.

It's pretty quiet inside and comfortable. There's almost no leg room in the back with the front seats pushed all the way back. It doesn't feel nearly as fast as the SRT-4 we test drove a few weeks ago, but this car looks more appealing. He was hoping to hear a little bit of "whine" from the supercharger, but it's pretty quiet also. The Ion Redline seemed to have that supercharger sound to it, but he really didn't want to buy a Saturn.

We knew the Ion had the same motor as the Cobalt, but it still doesn't sound the same for some reason. Maybe once he puts more miles on it, who knows.

He paid about $22k with the extended warenty and this one doesn't have the LSD and Recaro's, but the stock leather seats are pretty nice. I like the black and red color scheme.

I have a few other pictures I'll post later.

The cobalt was produced with sound deadening galore. That could have something to do with not being able to hear and sounds.

BTW, did you drive it? Even though it's not as fast as the SRT-4 was it still impressive? Did it throw you back in your seat? How does the engine sound through the tailpipes?

How does the stereo sounds? How good does that 10" sub pump?

sorry for the zillion questions.. but ... curious.

I'm sure the stereo system will sound good enough to not put in an extra 200LBS!!! into your trunk and completely destroy your weight distribution ratio!!! Thats why I opt on leavin the stereo ALONE!!! Except for maybe the head unit and mids/highs. But I will be keeping factory amplifier for a while and factory sub. I'm pretty sure the added wight of a box, at least one amp for a system (sometimes two depending on voice coils and ohm levels - no need for anymore really cause you don't have enough room in that lil trunk) and usually two subs (per personal preference), would throw off the handling a lil. Thats an easy 100+lbs. in the back transfering the center of g-forces backwards... away from the drive wheels... more tire spin :(

Sorry guys, this is the only other pic I had. My brother took the pictures, so blame him! :)

I didn't drive, no. It only has 1,200 miles on it so I don't want to drive it until I can put my foot into it. :D
My friend did get on it a couple times and I can say it "feels" like mid 14 second car. I say that because when I first swapped my GSR motor into my hatch, I ran a 14.3 and this Cobalt feels about same, maybe faster... but that could be because it has a good bit more torque and torque is deceiving.

Even though it has a Roots type Supercharger, it has a surge in power right around 3k RPM's. It's almost turbo-like. And 1st gear feels way too short at WOT. My friend kept telling me it was annoying.

The stock exhaust sounds pretty good and the stock stereo is more than enough for me. But I've never been into stereo's.

Lighter = better... for me anyways. ;)
