Incase anyone cares, I decided to do a search on the # of cobalt ss's out there as of right now (on a dealerships lot). Here's what we've got:

10 total Cobalt SS's

9 Victory Red
1 Arrival Blue Metallic

8 Victory Red - Black Seats w/ Red Seat Insert
1 Victory Red w/ Ebony Seats

1 Arrival Blue w/ Blue insert

All 9 Victory Red are somewhere in PA
The 1 Blue is in Bowling Green, KY

So thats where they stand. Again just some random info for you all.

I SERIOUSLY think GM should drop the price a lot on the SS's. AT LEAST below $22K!!!!!!!!! Look at the SRT-4

That $23K+ would be ok IF it had the LSD/Recaro package

As soon as the newness (is this a word?) wears off I expect GM to put some fat rebates on the Cobalt's (inlcuding the SS) which should put the price of a loaded SS at around $20K after a decent dealer discount.

Well right now they are giving $1000 rebates on all the cobalts (non ss) and I think that is pretty substantial considering they have been out for not too long.

I just learned how to drive a manual...been forced with an auto because of my wife :wink wink: and i love driving a stick...would love to drive this car too.

I hope so!!! Sounds good to me, and I think newness could be considered a form word, especially if "aint" is in some dictionaries. :D

Hell, at this rate the '05 will have to be on sale to make room for the '06 model year. When does that start? Another 6 months or so? Some people could end up getting a hell of a deal on an '05 if that happens. Right now, you guys have GM/Chevy drooling at the demand for the car. The thing should be $21,000 before haggling/rebates/incentives start. Instead it seems like the price is going up right now. I can't believe that they are just finally getting the damn thing to dealerships!

The only problem is that GM is having difficulty at the Lordstown plant with a couple of its outsource parts suppliers and this is slowing assembly and production, this will ultimately keep the 2005 SS numbers lower than GM projected which was low to start with already.
Don’t wait until model year close out sales to pick one of these SS’s up as they’re wont be enough of them built to last that long in 05.
