Hey hows Everybody doin? I came on this site to try to understand my buddy Who bought a Cobalt SS. I'll admit that with all the crap he's been talking about how fast his almost completely stock cobalt is he's made the name "cobalt" a sour taste in my mouth. He is what you'd call a habitual liar with the things he claims his balt will do so I've come on this site to maybe reclaim some respect and find out some truths about what this amazing lil car will do. I'm gonna try to refrain from passing judgement and talking smack about all you guys because then I'd be lowering myself to his level. I call it how I see it and I tend to be sarcastic, I appologize if I offend anybody with my comments as although I'm trying to keep an open mind on all this I am obviously a little biased and will tend to take sides with regards to my own car and cars I've owned in the past. I will try to be fair and try to add to this forum and not treat it as my toilet paper. If you guys have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks-Geoff

Is your friend one of those types who claims thier car is somehow the best even if its just stock and exactly like everyone elses. Seems like there are a lot of younger people with cobalts and younger people tend to be rediculous (not all are but lots). So many videos of races that are started with a horn (makes me laugh) and from a roll.. while those can be fun why don't you compare track times or race at the track. Not that I want people to street race but at least if you used a traffic light and went on green it would be more realistic. Oh I'm ranting... well... welcome.

the cobalt isnt a bad car, i ran a 13.6 with 1500 dollars worth of mods, stage 2, stage 2 tune, corsa exhaust, gm honed manifold, zzp 2.5 catted downpipe, and airbox mod im pushing anywhere from 250-260 hp....

Neway i dont think my cars god as it isnt at all, but you need to understand your car is a chrysler you shouldnt be biased at all haha... Your car is heavy and just cuz it has a hemi doesnt qualify it to be fast... Or anywhere near fast... The cobalt has horrible traction issues even with a tq dampner, and then when you go to mounts the car does good for a while but then shit starts to break such as axles... The blower is very limited to about the 300 hp mark unless your spraying still then the car creats alot of heat soak which makes you go to a dual pass and a heat exchanger and even then you still have the risks of blowing shit up so it isnt safe...

Alot of people are taking these cars into new boundaries and making them turbo, even though it isnt what the car was made for it is alot better of an option as you would create alot more hp upwards of 350 hp+.... But mind you thats alot of money into the car and you have to have a good tuner, which they are hard to come by....

300Cdriver, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I live not to far away from you. I'm in Sugarhouse. I am the Utah Chapter Rep of a car club that is focused on the Ecotec engine, which is in your friends car. Also, being familiar with the 300C/Charger R/T I will tell you that it is close race between you and your friend. I'm willing to bet that at our corrected altitude that varies between 7k-11k above sea level, it would be a drivers race. However, if you are an SRT-8, which I doubt you are (due to your avatar), you would beat him easily, if he is stock. To date, I don't know of anybody who has run a faster time in a Cobalt SS or Ion Redline faster than me at RMR (15.161 w/ 2.1 60' on all-season tires). Even the staged guys are having so much trouble hooking up on launch that they end up running mid 15's. So, if your friend is claiming that he is running faster than me (15.161) tell him to either put up or shut up. Nobody cares what the car can do according to a magazine at sea level when we are at 4500' above sea level. First race in the street legal series is 5/2/08 at RMR. I'll happily teach him how to drive.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
