As a GM dealer I find it amusing to see many posts in and around the WWW, but it's hard for any dealers to get the Cobalt SS when they are not even in production. I just ran a nationwide Locate and there are no Cobalt SS' anywhere. Cobalt SS are not being produced yet. Here is the current production schedule per GM Dealerworld:

Chevrolet Cobalt Vehicle Production Schedule

Start of production dates for the 2005 Cobalt models are currently scheduled as follows:

* October 2004 -- Sedan
* November 2004 -- Coupe and SS Supercharged
* July 2005 -- SS Coupe and Sedan

So why does it say SS production in November too ? :) My aunt works for GM, they have been making them. Many people I know have already gotten build dates and inbound arrival dates within a week of expected arrival time.
Anything is possible with GM! I have this little tool called GM Dealerworld we use at our dealership, it's the Ultimate GM Inventory search tool. I just ran a locate specifically for the 2005 Cobalt SS first to look 999 miles out from my ZIP in NY State, and got NO hits (it will show anything actually in the system), and then 3000 miles out, and again NO hits. So I am naturally skeptical when GM says there are none out there, and people say yes. I could be wrong, but then again, GM Dealerwold is fairly accurate. If someone can provide me with a VIN# of one produced, I'd like to see it. **I have sent an email to the Cobalt Production Team to get clarification on Cobalt Supercharged Production to date, and when full blown production will happen.

Does anyone have any up close pics of under the hood for the Cobalt SS
Cobalt SS Production Began Feb. 16th

I just received an email from the Cobalt Production Team and they told me, the Cobalt SS started production February 16th, that is 6 days ago. It seemed like some people have posted comments that made it sound like they have been making them for months - just 6 days folks so they should be starting to hit the lots soon although I doubt any have been delivered yet because none are showing up in GM inventory. Soon!

I am willing to share PRIVLEDGED DEALER INFO! Why? Because I beleive you have the RIGHT to know. If someone at GM doesn't like it - too bad!

Good post Chris, thx a mil! That gives people good bargaining power at the dealership, when they go to buy one.
I tried again last night at my local dealership if they could dealer locate me one from another dealership... and nothing popped up in thier system.. they did give me the same info that the first one was going to bowling green.. but they didn't have a vin or anything on it.. They also told me I could order one with the power package with LSD.. that was coming up in the systems for options/add-ons..
You be the Man

Thanks CarChris!
Wish your Cndn equivalent would also post! :D
Yes, some Canadian based info would be great. My dealer states that he still doesn't have the performance package listed for the LSD and Recaro seats. I even sent GM Canada an information request a couple days ago and haven't received a response. How is that for customer service!!

Do u work for the dealership? Then why dont u tell everybody why Chevy is holdin back on the SS???? GM is being told not to talk about the SS because of mechanical problems. I have relatives that work for GM. Iam hearin too much negative info on this car. I plan on buying an SS but with all the mechanical problems....i dont know now.
Hi,

It's sort of funny because at the dealer level, we don't get much feedback as far as delays at the factory and such, except when we have to be the bearers of the bad news and get the egg in our face and let you know that your car hasn't been built yet, and we have no idea when it will. It's tough for us too, because we only make money when we sell a car.

My opinion is GM should not have hyped up the Superchqarged as much without having any inventory, and it's great they spent millions and millions on those TV and Print ads, but all I know is that official Supercharged Production just started like a week a go on the 16th of Feb, so things are rolling, and Quality Control is very important.

I posted every one that is in Built Status and only one so far produced, or so that's what I saw on my end.

Here is the email address to the Cobalt Marketing Team, they may not like the fact I posted their email address, but what can they do - FIRE ME! [email protected]

yeah, like, I can't find another commssion sales job! As much as I truly like selling cars, this job has way too many hassles, but what job doesn't.
