I took it to Sound1 and they told me i was gonna need to mount the stock stereo in my trunk and still have it hooked up along with the aftermarket stereo because GM integrated things into their stereos.... their computer even states this in the install directions..... sounds like BS to me....

Then i took it to Best Buy and they told me i was gonna need some 100$ wiring kit that has the modules inside the stock stereo but its a little box....sounded like BS to me still....

Then i took it to Great Scot! a car audio shop by me and they took the dash apart and took out the stereo and tested the car to see if the dinger was still working if you leave the lights on.. and sure enough it worked... so they used a 15$ adapter.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Did they trick you into buying the 100$ module?

i'm not sure about your situation, but if you switch it out and you have onstar i think you need some type of adapter.. not sure how expensive it is though
