Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a digital slr so I can move farther into the photography hobby. I've always been into it, and now I feel like getting more serious. Well today at work a customer came in and had this Samsung Pro 815 digital camera. The screen on the back was just humongous (3.5") and it also had a screen on top for those "hip shots" or ground shots (when shooting cars and such) so you can see what you're actually shooting. It is an 8mp dslr, with an optical zoom up to 15 times (420mm for the slr equivelant). They are calling it a hybrid because there are not interchangable lenses, but the zoom goes from wide angle (28mm) to ultra telephoto (420mm). This zoom range would be the equivelant of two lenses for other digi slr's, and the price is under $900 for this whole thing. What I was wonderin is if anyone had any experience with the samsung cameras (or this one in particular) and if you guys thought this was as cool of a "starting" camera as I did. Here's the link to it on Samsung's website: http://www.samsungcamera.com/product/pro_view.asp?pro_uid=498&cat_uid=9

Thanks for any input guys.

My knowledge of cameras and photography isn't a whole lot, but this looks like a bitchin' camera that seems to be worth the money. Two screens, one humongous and the other adding great flexibility; 8 megapixels and 15X optical zoom, all from a quality brand. It's a great upstart photographer camera if I ever saw one.

'Twas my thinking exactly.
