Humm....... can you say turbo? Well if they are useing the same 2.0 as the SS that means that you could posabley do a turbo setup on the cobalt RIGHT? That Sky Redline will be some compition against the Miata Turbo.Nocturn said:

6 months after the release of the sky, the Sky Redline will debute with a 253HP turbocharged 2.0L.
If they are using the same 2.0L as the SS, wonder what they are doing to get the extra power. I think that will trounce the Miata enough to make people pay attention.
So true and can you belive that most of the cars are coming out will even get half decent gas mileage even with all of the power they have. (05 Corvette) <=== Gets beter gas mileage than my car.CoBIZZLE said:I knew they would be out soon enough!! These are gonna be some really hot cars.
Really? Hummm.... that is awsome that will save some money.CoBIZZLE said:Yeah I'm not sure about the new Z06 but I do know the new base C6 gets such good mileage that there is no gas guzzler tax on it!!!
Yeah i know that is so impressive numbers for a stock V-8.CoBIZZLE said:Yeah but somehow I doubt the 500horse Z06 will pull that one off! LOL
Not to mention comming TCed instead of just raising the RPM to 9K. Anyone know the specs of an S2000 of the top of their head?CoBIZZLE said:Well if the base model will be 160 then the higher end model should put out at least 200+hp. Looks to me like the S2000 aint gonna be the baddest roadster on the streets anymore!!! With a 253hp sky and a 200+hp (hopefully)Mazdaspeed Miata, these are two cars that could DEFINITELY give the S2000 trouble, I'm callin it now, the Sky Redline will more than likely out-accelerate the S2000!!!! More hp and WAAAAAYYYY more torque. I wonder how it will add up in the twisty's though?!?!?!
SAAB does not mate their version of the 2.0L power plant to "a FWD 6 speed tranny".Boother said:SAAB has been using a turbocharged version of the 2.0L Ecotec for a couple years now. It is also mated to a FWD 6 speed tranny. The SS is the one getting the shaft from GM.
Woah, where do I start....SAAB does indeed mate a FWD 6 speed tranny to their turbo Ecotec, I was just in one last week! THe standard tranny is a 5 speed stick, but the 6 speed is optional on the Aero.ZX1100F1 said:SAAB does not mate their version of the 2.0L power plant to "a FWD 6 speed tranny".
SAAB uses a 5-Speed manual with an optional 4 or 5-Speed Automatic (depending on model) on its cars that utilize this motor.
They do however offer a 227 HP turbocharged version of GM’s Ecotec in the new 9-2x Aero AWD but its base MSRP is $5,650 more than that of the Cobalt SS.
With the Cobalt SS GM is trying to keep the price down so that the younger performance-oriented buyers (whom this car is aimed at) can afford it and don’t “get the shaft”.
The Sky is definitly going to be a bit fast.svtfocus said:S2000: 240hp, 150 lbs of torque
