That's a shitty 0-60.

All those times are shitty. 0-30 in 2.86 seconds???? A 96-99 Sunfire GT would do 0-30 in 2.6 according to Motor Trend.

I did a 15.2 at 89 mph in my 98 SFGT with a homemade intake, GM pulley, and crappy cat-back exhaust.

Edmunds needs to learn to drive.

The driver of the car that ran those times is whats shity. The car will run MUCH faster than that. Look at May 2005 Motor Trend. 0-60: 601 1/4: [email protected]
You know GM paid for those 1/4times. Just look at the 0-100 times then look at the 1/4 mile times.

CobaltSS 0-100 15.8 SRT4 0-100 13.8
1/4mile 14.4 @99.3 1/4mile 14.4 @100.8

These times just don't match up. According to this it takes them 15.4 secs to hit 100 in the SS yet they run the quarter in 14.4 @ basically 100. unless its takes them a full second to do that 7 tenths of a MPH. The SRT4 should run bottom 14s with that 100 ft. The 100ft times contradict the 1/4 mile times. But Motor Trend has always been sketchy about their times. According to them an auto 05 Mustang will run mid 13s. Yet every driver I've seen has run bottom 14s with a stick. Even professional drag racers have only been able to get a best of 13.9 with a stick. Every other magazine that has reviewed the Cobalt SS puts it a high 14s. The best I've seen is a 14.7.
I'm not saying it isn't possible, just be wary of Motor Trends times because they just aren't that reliable. I mean in 2003 they ran a 13.9 with the SRT4. The next year they ran a 14.2 with 15 more horsepower and LSD. And now 14.4 with no changes from last year. MT is just a car brochure for the highest bidder. It probably isn't that odd that there have been Cobalt SS foldout adss in MT for the last few issues. I'm just saying GM has a lot of money to throw around. I've lost count of all the Cobalt commercials and magazine ads I've seen lately. You guys have a great car just don't believe everything you read.

i got timed today, 0-60 in 5 secs flat, i raced a guy from work with a 2000 pontiac grand prix gt on a mesured 1/4 mile and beat him by half the track, ill get quarter mile times for u
So what you're telling me is that you could pretty much hang with a 400 hp corvette that runs 0-60 in 4.7 with 205 hp and FWD. Is this about right? And how exactly did you get these times? Every other Cobalt SS I have seen has run 0-60 high 5s to low 6s.

Congrats man, that 0-60 time is the fastest ever 0-60 time recorded by stock FWD produciton vehicle. You are the man. How did you do it? Please don't tell me you used one of those gyro timers you set on dash, which sounds like what happed here.

I love the Cobalt SS's, can't wait to have a fun-run with one. I won't be surprised to see a modded one win over an SRT-4... SRTs a quick, but not the fastest out there... I get owned too. I really think those SS's have a lot of potential with even just a few mods.

^^ Thats one of the slower times that I've seen for the SS. I like to side w/ Motor Trend since they pulled a 14.4! :D

And also, I cant remember who said it but I agree that once people actually get their cars and get used to them I think they will pull better times than the magazine editors could because they weren't exactly completely used to the car when they ran it! I'm guessin somebody will pull at least 14.3s stock. But maybe its just wishful thinkin.
