The first thing I noticed on this site was how many srt people are on here. i see they are just BEGGING for a nemesis lol. srt-4 is alone right now as far as domestic 4 banger competition. So when a new FI car comes in..here come the neon guys like sharks! i just thought I'd mention this. It's fun to watch. Since us Ford guys are in the dark right now, i think I'll just chill and watch you Dodge and Chevy guys go at it.

I think the reason behind all the SRT-4 guys is the fact that ekool runs SRTforums and he brought a lot of people over here with him. I personally found the cobalt link on the SRT forums, and since I love the car and might have one in the family soon, here I am. I in no way want to have a mini war with the Cobalts, I love the fact that Chevy is finally stepping up.

Like Pablo mentioned, ekool runs these forums(in which i think are about the best once ppl flock to them), Cobaltss.com, redlineforums.com and several others. They all have that At home feeling.

There are other Cobalt forums out there but I can't stand Phbb forums and such. Plus ekool runs open forums with the exception of a few rule sets.

Just common sense.

Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately there's some people who are hoighty-toighty over their SRT, which, as far as I'm concerned, is really lame.

I have a friend who just adores the SRT-4. I say anything about liking a car better than it, he just starts talking about how much faster the SRT is, or something else. I mean damn, I don't care if you'll beat me down the strip. It really doesn't matter, in the grand scheme of things.

(note: SRT can easily be replaced with any other car. Point is: fanboiz suck)

Well I can back you up there to a certain extent. I have been around cars for a long time. Today is hard to really find the true car enthusiasts because with every new car out there are always cliks or groups that like just that one vehicle.

Take the SRT-4 for instance, there are your true enthusiasts and then there are those "Mom and Pop bought me the car" or "Street Racers" out there that ruin it for the enthusiasts.

I simply like Underdog 6 or 4 cylinder boosted vehicles. I've had my fare share of modifying many brands of vehicles. I like the SRT-4 and I'm liking the Cobalt SS. The redline has not won me over but it has one fine engine in it. I like the Evo over the STi. But like them in the respects of having boosted motors.

Have ya ever been to a Hyundai forum? See them write on how great their cars are vs others? geesh....and those are just the accent owners...with 1.5L engines.

You'll get it from any forum, even this one once it gets the owners in.

That is the way the car hobby always has been and always will be. It is good competition and fun to jaw with other enthusiasts. Some take it to personal though and really get deffensive of thier "make or model".

I think the fact that the SRT has reigned king of the 20k dollar sports car ring the past couple of years is the reason why so much hype of a battle is even going on. The Cobalt is the first car to go head to head with the SRT since it arrived. Should be interesting how it all pans out. I just hope everyone can have fun and some good competion.

....unfortunately Ford never jumped on the turbocharged realm when they had the chance before the SVT and WRX came out. I remember taking part in surveys and having acces to engineers that made the SVT focus possible. When a group of us mentioned "make it turbo" their reply was, "there is no market for this right now". so N/A and 170 crank HP it was.

The ION red line could have done it but it fell short in some departments and the name never took off. Now you see companies wanting to get the Cobalt SS in their hands. They are barely out there and they are requesting for them to R&D!

I think the name of the car really makes people think too, how many people have you heard say "I wouldn't be cought dead driving a neon but I'll drive an srt4" The Ion Redline also didn't have the advertising behind it like some of the others.

Ford told you that there is no market for turbo cars? lol I find it hard to believe that Tom Scarpello and the boys at SVT would say something so ignorant..but it could've happened.

BTW, there IS a turbo focus available. It's the Rousch Stage 3 Focus. It's 230hp, w/good suspension and body kit...But it's 28k No one is gonna buy that car for that much. these people need to get a clue

SRT-4 really didn't get much marketing besides magazines ranting and raving on how great the car is.

The red Line on the other hand got the shaft as they mentioned the seats were great but the rest of the car sucked. Long car, center dash etc...

I even heard a guy say it to jean as we were stopping in a Advance Auto Parts, guy says, "I was going to get one of those until I got cool"..and goes ahead and steps into a 4dr focus with a shiny round muffler sticking out on stock piping. Automatic at that.

This was before the Focus was released into the US market. So the Focus was not available yet. All there was for choices was escorts and the ZX2....

OH BTW, yes we were told that...the closest thing to a turbo car that could be modified nicely back then was the release of the wrx. Even that Subaru knew it was going to be a make it or break it deal as they released the turbo car back into the sport compact market. 2000 marked the year of the sport compact seen in growth with the introduction of the WRX. Ford pumped out the SVT focus which was on display before it was released. They marketed the car through several Hot import nights(it was the only compact car show at the time) and track venues(englishtown racewaypark). I still have the literature and key fobs that were given at the Ford SVT booth.

So yeah I was interested in the SVT Focus until word hit that it was not going to be turbocharged.

I like the SRT-4 but we already have one with over 400whp.

I think ford really needs to step up now and offer something like the focus RS, but they also have to make the damn thing affordable.
don't see that happening anytime soon.

I can't wait till I get my Cobalt SS.

I'll race just about anything on the Track I don't care if I loose.

Even if the SRT-4 has more hp I think that the Cobalt SS can hang with it pretty good.

what up boys, a friend told me about this site but he said it was run by srt guys, which I wasn't sure about. I have met alota assholes behind the wheel of an srt but i have to say reading through the forum it's clear that the people I have meet don't represent all srt drivers.

Now down to it, SRT SS, enemies...always makes things interesting. Personally I'm just happy ford's not in the picture. Than we'd be talking enemies!!!!

I hope you know that there is more to "racing" than the quarter mile. Auto-X and gimme a call. If you want to do the quarter, buy an 88 5.0 notch and let er rip.
