Sorry for the swear word in the title cobaltss.com, but I felt it was necessary for this.

So this last wednesday I took my car to the track up here in Colorado (mile high state). I'm currently have a Borla CB Exhaust and an Injen CAI. I'll admit, I'm not the best driver, and I'm still trying to learn how to launch my car correctly, but let me get to the chase...

My first of two runs at the track last wednesday was embarrassing in two ways. I for one cannot stand Honda Civics, especially this one. This little Civic hatchback that looked like something you could find at a junkyard rolled up next to me at the line. I was really nervous because it was only my second time ever to the track. We lined up and the light turned green on the tree, and we both peeled out. So at first we were both doing pretty even, keeping it even until the 60', then this guy decided to spray. Next thing I knew he was dominating me by like 3 lengths. At the end of the run, I ran a 16.2 (I know I know...) and he had a 13.4 at the 1/4. As we were rolling off of the track, he rolled down his window, started laughing at me, and said that I should sell my car and give up. Now, being the nice guy that I am, I didn't follow him back into the line and beat the hell out of him. I just said nothing and got back in line to race again. I know it was a clean win, so I'm not trying to ricer my excuse here, but why spray, and then make fun of the loser? That's just downright freaking stupid, and I hope the spray in his car blows on the intake someday. But yea I just figured I'd let you all know my ricer story. By the way everyone, yes he had a MASSIVE wing coming off the roof of his car. :D

a- He ran a 13.4 on spray? buwahahahaha!!!! He should be embarassed for that alone!!!
b- just remind him that he had to use a bottle to beat you
c- practice at stop signs and redlights so you can get a good 60' time. You should be at least in the mid 14's

The title of the thread is a bit of a generalization. Mod your balt til you can run faster than 13.4. Or dont run fast honda's anymore.

I agree, but those times (the 14's for the 1/4) were taken ad sea-level altitudes. Here where I live, and the track for that matter are well above a mile above sea-level *cries*. Lol. My friend was teaching me how to burn out earlier. For some reason I just couldn't get it right, then he pointed out that I didn't have the E-brake pulled. I felt like a dumb-ass, unless there's a better/safer way to heat the tires before the peelout. I just ordered the ETD from Ingalls to knock out the wheel hop off the line. Thank God....

blu, I didn't know he was fast lol, obviously from where I said it looked like something I'd find at a junkyard. And the fact that it was my second time to the track. sorry about the double post

From what I have seen is that if it looks like shit, it probably has a surprise waiting underneath the hood.

I've taken my worst beatings from primer gray pieces of sh*t! I'm always leary of the heaps because they might be hiding all the money under the hood or if it's a $500 heap, who cars if you spray it til it blows.

This character sounds like a jerk with poor poor sportsmenship..

I am no angel though, I tend to talk smack on the street, but yet words of encouragement at the track..

We have helped many at the track with just little simple things that add up, such as tire pressure (I always have a pressure guage), proper cool down of the car, sometimes we spray them down a bit or ice the intake, advice on staging and launching... Things of that nature...

b- your car has forced induction and runs 14s, yeah definently stop talking shit.

man not tryin to start anything but there is a big difference between street racing and practicing your launch from stoplights/stop signs, there is no law that prohibits that (as long as you don't peel out)

Lol thanks for the words of encouragement guys. My main problem with the launch is getting it without the wheelhop. But I'm thinking the easiest way to get rid of that is an Ingalls ETD.

Mounts will help but the single best mod you can make to improve your launch is slicks. Or at the very least drag radials. You can cut a1/2 second off your time just with proper tires.

WOW! For once I am going to agree with you. Forced induction vs. spray. ah... Both are power adders....

13.4 in a peice of shit honda and beat a cobalt... Idk about you guys but i would be pretty pumped considering it pry has 1.6L or 1.8L....
